I took some photos tonight and when I tried to download them, a message popped up saying that I needed to format the card. No images, just a suspicious message. I re-formated but now I'm worried. Will it happen again? Is this expensive card toast or was it just a momentary aberration? Not sure what to do...
Sorry to read this Linda.
All memory cards have a finite life span. You can write to them and write to them and write to them, but at some stage they will simply expire. Unfortunately, they don't tell you when.
The SanDisk SDXC 64Gb card is around £35 on Amazon, UK
A semi- pro once told me, at weddings, he takes a bag of batteries, a small bag of 'memory' a couple of camera bodies and at least 2 spare lenses. Better safe than sorry he said.
As far a I remember, it happened to us one time and we went to Henry's Photo shop and were told to format the card in the camera, not on the computer after uploading the pictures. I guess you lost your pictures!
