Is anyone familiar with Overdrive? It's a great little app that lets me check out library books on my tablet for free. The downside is (just like in "real life") the book you want may not be available. When I placed a hold on the very popular "The Girl On The Train", I was number 1,072 on the waiting list. Just for fun (I could have just purchased the book!) I decided to see how long it would take - I requested the book on May 7th and got the message today that it was ready to download! So here's my happy photo for the day!
Nice shot. And, yes, those wait lists can be quite long, especially if your library only buys a copy or two at a time. Since I read about 50 books a year on my Kindle, the library saves me tons plus I get a bang for my tax dollar.
I've heard of this but have never tried it nor seen it explained so well. Another bonus to it, I think, is that your books don't have other people's spills or worse on them!
@BevAnneS Yes, I'm really enjoying it (much more than I thought I would) But I do visit the library every now and then - love just walking the aisles! Thanks for dropping by.
Loved that book. You'll enjoy...a long wait though. Strange that being only line like that makes it unavailable. Oh well...I still don't know how television works! hahahaha!!
@eyesmile LOL- yes, I've thought that many times about any technology in my home - how does that work?? I'm only a few chapters in, but I know I'm going to like it!
Found out from this very post that my very own library will check out books in this manner, in particular they have books on tape in this format. I'm extremely excited (doesn't take much when it comes to new book delivery systems)
