I stop in a convenience store many mornings to buy my diet coke on the way to work. For the past few years the manager has been dressing like a woman for two weeks to encourage people to donate to Riley Hospital for Children. He carries a purse for the donations and his outfits get more and more outrageous each day. Today I finally got brave enough to ask him if I could take his picture. He’s normally a very smiley person, but I guess he takes his charity work very seriously. (And yes, it’s a terrible composition, but I was in a hurry because I had to get to work.)
Not every photo can or has to be a masterpiece. What I like about this is that it is a slice of your life. Here's a spot where you run in to buy a coke and you've discovered a passion in someone that most people might just pass by without ever knowing why he's doing it. It's very realistic because it comes out of his element. Funny how he sort of froze on you- but maybe he was surprised by having his picture taken. Anyway- I like it just the way it is.
