Gateway to the Future

This is the entrance to Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana which is where our daughter plans to spend the next four years of her life. We spent two days attending informative sessions on a variety of subjects as well as exploring the campus and helping Katy enroll in her classes. Although I’ve been to IU before, I never really explored it in depth. I was quite surprised at how beautiful the grounds are with lots of old shade trees, wooded pathways, and beautiful, manicured gardens among the wealth of historic buildings. Although I get a little misty eyed when I think of my baby going off to college, I’m also really excited for her to get experience campus life here.
So beautiful! I've never explored IU, having spent my college years in Texas. Love this photo!

It looks like it would be a beautiful campus

What a cool time in your life. I know with all that is going on it is a little bit of a nervous time but just sit back and enjoy the ride. She is only an hour and a half from you. Tell her to take the time and stop in and see the campus police and learn the system. It will come in handy if she needs anything

That's beautiful! At first I thought that you took this somewhere in Europe

Looks like she's going to a fantastic school. The gates are very similar to the ones on my former college campus. Probably built in the same era. Nice shot!

Lovely shot, Lisa, and sounds like there will be plenty of opportunities for us to all see more of the campus! What an exciting time!

Such a beautiful campus. I well remember the mixed emotions of sending babies off to school. It's big. But the excitement and the awareness that it was time for that next big step always outweighed the sadness.

I spent 4 years at IU and I can attest to the fact that it's one of the most beautiful campuses in the Big Ten (and I've visited most of them). The wooded areas near Showalter Fountain and just inside the gates of your photo were always my favorites. Lots of good memories there.
