Last Friday, CSX shut down the rail line that runs behind my office. I guess they're serious, as they cut out a bit of the rail, and added a big red sign.

Seems that the rails have been fading for decades, and continue...

My husband and boys used to ride the bike path from Alhambra into Edwardsville. At least that's a great use of path they cut.

Thanks Lisa & Haydn. I do hate to see the rails disappear. But on the other hand, they're done a great job (around here, at least) converting them to bike trails.

Maybe this one will be reborn under "rail-to-trails".
