Just off Nickel Plate Trail, Glen Carbon, Illinois. Once upon a time there were parallel tracks... Only one got converted to bike/hike trail. And it wasn't this one!
It is kind of sad to think of the number of railroads that used to intertwine the countrysides and how they have dwindled to next to nothing. Great find and capture!
@skipt07@777margo Thanks! And yes, this is a retired railroad line. There are actually two tracks, separated by about 25 yards. The other one is now a nice, paved bike trail. With a nice, new bridge. This side is much more interesting!
