For the bw-38 theme, the topic was to explore "the love of my life." So, this may be a stretch, but here's an explanation. One of the things that my wife and I enjoy doing is to take excursions, to jump in the car and explore. Find some photo opportunities for me, e some quilt shops or crafty spots for her. Share some windshield time just talking.
We were on one such outing today, somewhere between Breese and Carlyle Illinois. We turned off the main road to explore a burned out truck in the distance (see my other album)... then a little further off the main road to check out a cool farmhouse. We were working back towards the main road, and we discovered this spot where a stream was well over it's banks... blocking our way. So we had to double back. Just another moment that we can remember....
Looking at google maps, this is Wade County, pretty sure it is where County Rd 1480N crosses Beaver Creek. Or, today, where Beaver Creek crosses County Rd 1480 N, I suppose.
Superb composition and I have learnt something. I would probably have tried to get the top of the trees in the picture as well, but it is much better to have cut them because the eye has to focus on the reflection in order to see the complete object.
really great for the reflections - in black and white and a well composed shot. I love the way you describe 'a moment to remember' so true. These quirky little details are what allows us to remember a particular outing or day.
@etienne - I wanted to emphasize the water / reflections / shadows, but leave some of the trees in frame for context. Actually this follows rule of 3rds pretty closely. the bridge is about at the top left "Power Point", the water pretty much takes up the bottom 2/3rds. I rather like the way the reflection of the sky follows the path of the submerged road...
Absolutely love this - just spotted it as a finalist. Something about those ripples and lines. I love fording rivers, but you have to be sure of your river!

Thank you for entering the Scenes from the Road challenge!
Thanks all!
