Another one from WAY back when. I spent a little time during college shooting for the University newspaper (~35 yrs ago!). Mostly for the weekly "Arts and Entertainment" supplement. At some point (probably 1981), I was asked to photograph a tobacco spitting contest held at Duke Homestead. Duke Homestead is "the historic homestead of the Duke family, founders of the American Tobacco Company and givers of the Duke Endowment."
Anyway, no photos of the spitting contest survive, but I still have several from my subsequent exploration of the historic site. This is my favorite. Not bad for a kid with only a few years experience and no training.
Scanned from a print, this was shot with my trusty Canon TX SLR, probably on Tri-X film.
