First time this hydrangea has bloomed in 3 years. It only blooms on "old wood" and the last 2 years the winter was so bad (either super cold or ice late in the season) that none of the old branches leafed out. It also can't decide if it wants to be pink or blue.
Loved this close-in detail. I kind of like that colour indecision of hydrangeas. I guess if your soil is very acidic or very basic it is more certain and stable, but I like the idea of plant as litmus test. :)
