Memphis Belle by ltodd

Memphis Belle

I was laying on my stomach in the local shopping centre carpark to get this shot. I got a few funny looks from fellow shoppers, but the pay off was a few nice shots!

This galah is female because the eye is pink - and the male with her had a black eye. The crest raising was her way of saying "OK enough pictures now already - back away crazy lady"
who's a pretty girl then? lovely shot. fav for the carpark effort!

Fabulous capture. I love Galahs, we used to have a flock in a Tipuana tree in our back garden in Perth, I never needed an alarm clock, the din they made at sunrise was incredible! Big FAVE

Isn't she gorgeous. I didn't know about the colour of the eyes to determine males and females. I will have to look out for that next time a bunch of galahs are in my garden.

Too bad someone didn't get a photo of the photographer on this one! Still and all it is a magnificent photo and I love that low POV. I have never seen this kind of a bird before. She is a beauty

@kerosene @grammyn @mariapachon :) galahs are very common here, and I always think they are a 'friendly' looking bird. We rescued a young one many years ago and had to feed it every 2 hours or it would screech like crazy. here is a sound that I hear most days. as they talk to each other .... http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/sites/www.birdsinbackyards.net/files/factsheets/audio/cacatua-roseicapilla.mp3 and a shot from 2012 taken about 5 km from my home. http://365project.org/ltodd/365/2012-01-23
