Sanibel Island, where this was taken, is now in the path of Hurricane Irma on the gulf side of Florida. I have many relatives on the east coast of Florida, so a slight bit of relief for them now, but it sounds like the whole state of Florida is going to be horribly affected.
I've heard several times over it's expected to cover the whole state. I am definitely praying that folks have heeded the early warnings and sought shelter ahead of time. Beautiful shot.
Thoughts for all in Florida, hopefully most people will have heeded the warnings and got themselves to safety but the recovery period is going to be long and expensive.
Beautiful and, tonight, poignant scene. Many friends on Beaver Island winter in Florida, some on the east and others on the west side. It was a main topic of conversation at an event tonight. Relief by some, increased anxiety for others. Hard times.
Beautiful colors and silhouettes. I've seen in the news a few people are waiting the storm out. I think I'd be running myself. Scary what's heading their way π
Just awful! I was in Indian Rocks Beach, Sarasota and St. Pete's in February and was looking forward to going back in Feb. 2018, if the rental beach house is still standing! :(
Fabulous image, Sanibel is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. Hopefully everyone will be prepared for the worst, it must be so worrying waiting for it to hit.
SE Florida is currently getting pummled. My friends have been terrified. It'll hit us during the night, and we are far inland riding it out. Praying Tampa is spared from the worst.
Awesome capture. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. We're just waiting things out right now. Just hope the west coast doesn't get hit too hard. I'm on the east side and am hoping it slows down real quick for everyone. Just wish the nor-easter we're having wasn't out there right now.
beautiful scene and lighting. We were talking to friends on the west coast of Florida and in one hour it went from an anticipated 6" of rain to over 20"
Beautiful image.
