FLOCKING TO THE FEEDER by markp

FLOCKING TO THE FEEDER

A flock of Goldfinches is called a Charm, and I must admit this Charm of Goldfinches does look rather charming.
The certainly do look charming! In the winter, here in the northwoods, our goldfinches really lose their colorful plumage.

So many and so brightly coloured! Certainly different from what I think of as a goldfinch around here! This is a shot of my kind of goldfinch. http://365project.org/gardencat/365/2013-06-10

I'm green with envy - I have only ever seen one of these in my garden

@virtualbrownie Oh dear, well I had better not tell you I have 3 of these feeders which were all full, plus some on the Niger seed feeders and some in the bushes waiting their turns. Maybe 20 birds but it is hard to count them accurately as they keep flitting around.

Charming indeed. What a lovely sight, we don't get many of these in our garden.

Fabulous

What a great splash of colour. We get quite a few too but I think I need to re position the feeder to get better shots.

I don't even get one in my garden, and you get all them! Good shot.

@gamelee Thanks Lee, it took a few years of regularly feeding the common birds, Sparrows, Starlings, Blackbirds etc, before the first Goldfinch turned up, but the numbers just seem to keep growing each year now.

That's the second new term I've learned tonight - a "charm" of goldfinch - yours are so pretty!! You really did a great job of showing their wonderful markings.
