Two Canada Geese, presumably a pair, were standing peacefully at the side of the lake. Then in flew another goose, he landed and started to swim over towards the other pair. The response from the pair was almost instant. Guessing it was the male of the couple, one of them, started honking loudly at the intruder, and set off running across the water. This was accompanied with much more honking, wing flapping and a great deal of splashing.
The intruder turned tail and was chased several hundred yards away from me.
Satisfied he had seen off the intruder, this goose, calmed down and swam quickly back to his mate.
Bet you can understand just what he was saying - love that facial expression with the set mouth just honking away - wonderful action of those feet in the water.
