You'll never get lost

The ceiling of 1,929 curved lamellae adorned with a combined historic city map (1876-77) in (Delft) blue above the public lobby and new station hall (Mecanoo in collaboration with Geerdes Design).

You can read some more about the production here.

Or you can watch this video in which Francine Houben, manager of Mecanoo architects, walks you through the building. Pardon her English accent, typical Dutch...
Love the sense of layers here, and the almost abstract quality.

Wow, Mek! I just watched the video! It almost seems impossible you could have captured a wider-angle view once people filled the space! It's beautiful! What a work of art!

Watched the video, interesting to hear to story behind, the tiles, the ceiling, the space. I liked the part where they showed the Vermeer and it slowly changed to a nowadays image/movement.

Thanks so much Mek. I will come visit again soon. It was the Vermeer connection that brought me to Delft the first time and I felt really at home there..
