I seem to have a story for most photos. So here I go again. This plant is in my backyard. I have no idea what it is, but I know how it found it’s way to my family history. Margaret Mitchell, the author of Gone With the Wind, was married to John Marsh. John was born & raised in Maysville where his mother taught school. Margaret Michell often visited Maysville. At some point she brought a shoot of this plant to a friend, Bona Hanley, in Maysville. My mother was not a friend of Margaret Mitchell, but was a friend of Bona. When I was born in August 1952, Bona gave a shoot of it to my mother as a gift because it blooms late summer. My mother planted it in the yard where they brought me from from hospital. She moved twice before she died & always took a shoot to plant in the new yard. After my mother died I took a shoot for my yard. Now, 67 years later, a plant that Margaret Michell cherished & cared for continues to bloom for my birthday. 4 degrees of separation.
