The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté - psychology, health and sociology. A HUGE book. Unfortunately, acknowledging our issues is not enough.
I forgot to photograph the book before I lent it. So here is the sketch of the cover in my reading journal.
I have not written a reader's diary since I stopped going to school. But I still read, if not as much as you. Your drawing is clever. Something else for this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70HNmSsJvVU&t=2s
@borof Thanks a lot! I have that planned for next month to watch. I am very curious.
As for reading, it's not about who's reading more. The idea is to keep reading.
Journals are so great for all kinds of reasons. If I read more I would need a reading Journal. I read a couple paperbacks on an airline trip I took and had forgotten how much I miss reading and good page turner. This book, unfortunately, looks as if it needs more brain power than I'm willing to dedicate to an amusing pastime. Interesting sketch too.
@theredcamera by the way, i have about 10 volumes of light readings on my list. I've had enough serious readings... and i use my journal mainly for sketching the covers. And sometimes adding quotes.
Though born in Hungary, Dr. Matè has lived in Vancouver most of his life. He ran a family practice here for many years and his work with addictions and mental health is well known. Alas, I have never read any of his books.
@cdcook48 Yes, I am now aware of his background. I have read this one and another one on which he was co.author. I totally resonate with his ideas. It makes sense.
