brave to use B&W for this gorgeous shot - glad to see you are not completely under water in your part of Cumbria - best wishes to all who are suffereing - one comment I would make is the balance between foreground and background where the former is dominating - have you tried applyiig a grad filter?
@handymaurice Thank you. I don't have any filters at all. I was thinking of acquiring some at some stage. I rarely take landscapes and wonder how they would enhance my macro shots? I still need to take the plunge with RAW and Photoshop. This photography thing is so addictive :)
@motherjane Jane it is utterly addictive - I have a set of filters (not expensive ones as I am finding I rarely use them - although tempted by a "Big Stopper") I am increasingly using the graduated filter option available in Lightroom to darken skies and backgrounds etc. and for the moment this is meetiing my needs and is so easy to use once you try. If you are not yet using RAW you are doing exceptionally well in jpeg - that said RAW is no more difficult if like me you think if I take in RAW it means I have more scope for adjustment later - I discussed this with a friend at camera club last night who said he didnt use RAW as he did not understand it - my response is to consider RAW as the same photo but with much more date to paly with!
