Altered Book - A Work In Progress by mozette

Altered Book - A Work In Progress

Over the last week or so, I've been working on an Altered Book. This is where you take an ordinary book and change what it says inside with pictures, words and paint for it to say something else; and mean something else.

It's a lot of fun, but a lot of work too.

I'm about 3/4 way through my story, and thought to get in and take a few photos for my own records. I'm up to the part where I've left school, been to college and found a job; but I'm still writing.
I won't go through too much detail after this, I'll add in a little about my woes with publishing and that writing is the fun part; and that's how it should be: about entertaining people. :D
Interesting! I'm sure that it will be very special when it is finished. Wish that I could get back to my expressive side again, but I'm still having trouble getting pen or pencil to paper.

@weshook I've yet to do the cover; and that will take a little bit. But the one thing I've found is hard is the amount of time I have to wait for the whole thing to dry. Seeing it's been cold and wet here, drying time is taking longer than usual... and so it's set me back further than I've expected.
So, this weekend, I won't be attending the last workshop, instead I'll be here at home working on the last finishing touches of the book so I don't have to move it. :)

If you have an oven or a furnace with a pilot light, you could put it in the oven or furnace room to dry a bit quicker with the warmth and drier air. My grandson was having trouble waiting for his glitter glue to dry a few days ago and it is only humid here and not cold.

Great idea; but we don't have furnaces here in Australia. And putting it in the oven isn't a good idea as it'd burn too quick... I'm just leaving it open by my art area and letting it dry overnight after 2 hours of work each afternoon. I know it sounds primitive, but it's the only way I know to let it dry on its own. :)

That sounds like quite an interersting project, and it does sound like it would be a lot of work. After it's all done, it will make a wonderful keepsake.

@digitalrn Yes. I'm having a lot of fun with it. And I'm hoping it will be here for a long time yet... and seeing it's a piece of art, it will be added into my collection of books to 'read' as a piece on its own. :D

@weshook @digitalrn @loey5150 thank you all for your lovely comments. I'm having a great time getting this book together! Today, I'm hoping to fix up the cover and have it ready for next week. It ought to look good... otherwise, I don't have far to go on it. I'll upload the book before I hand it in for the exhibition. :D
