Big Excitement

I returned home last night to find an ambulance and two fire trucks blocking the way into the unit complex. So, I parked my car in the only visitor's spot available (right next to the gate inside) and walked up to see what happened.

One of the tenants had stepped up to his stove to light it when he felt the wall next to it was very hot. He had turned on the tap at the sink to wash up some things a moment before and the water came out white and very hot - hotter than usual - and he wondered what the hell was going on. So, he turned off the tap and went outside to check on the hot water system to find flames spitting around it and from between the vents in the bricks! When he returned inside, he saw flames start up around his stove - this was when he called 000.

What a night! Poor Greg is okay today. He says he's grateful that his neighbours have been taking care of him and I dropped in on him today to see if he needed anything (foodwise) and he said he was okay for now.

The fireys said that it could have been far worse... he was lucky that he was home because it could have taken his house and others around the complex with it.
Oh dear hope he's feeling better cool images

@dawnee he's going okay now. But I talked to Dad (he's the Body Corporate Chairperson) and he agreed that if it's happened to one townhouse, the BC better look at all of them. Because of the age of the complex, it's time this kind of thing starts to wear out...
