Most butterflies don't stay still for me. This one did, so I managed a few shots. I think it's a Blue Glassy Tiger. I will probably never be this lucky again but it's okay. I now have a butterfly shot in my 365 album. Can't ask for more.
Too bad you can't really see the wings. Should I have focused on the wings instead? XD
Beautiful. I love the focus on the body. Such detail--great, great job. Hooray for you getting a butterfly. I haven't even seen any here yet. And I have my new lens all ready ; ) Congratulations on the capture.
This pic is perfect as it is . you can focus on the head , the wings will be soft.. where you want us to focus If you want to to have everything clear you have to chance you position and take the pic from the side of the butterfly . Or do/chance the dof by hand .
Livia, this is amazing! Great crisp and clear focus on the head! I can clearly see its long narrow tongue bent like a straw sucking up the nectar. Who cares about the wings when you can see what you normally don't see! Great shot!!!
I think it would have looked weird if only the wings were in focus. We can see them well enough. I dont have a butterfly pic yet, you can cross it off your list now. He is lovely!
This is a gorgeous shot of this butterfly, Livia. I do not think I have seen the front of a butterfly like this before. I have seen plenty of beautiful wings but this is the beauty of the front of this butterfly. FAV
nice pov and detail Livia. i think you focused it just right, so we can see his eyes and body. Actually, i think it's hard to get good focus on a butterfly......between their antennae, wings, body and their little feet......it's challenging!
Beautiful Livia. I actually like the focus, it really accentuates the foreground and the butterfly's body and antennae. They are so difficult to shoot anyway, I still haven't got a crisp shot of my favourite species after 5 or 6 years of trying! The key is to get parallel to the wings I think. +F for me, because it's your first butterfly and because I love the comp and focus so much. ;))
Beautiful capture. Great dof. And no, I don't think you needed the wings in focus. I don't know much about photography, but I look at it a bit like the first time you meet someone your attracted to. Maybe you get them to smile, laugh a little. But at first you never really see the whole picture. But you know you want to. Its the mystery. Again, I'm just idiot with no sleep, but that's the way I picture it. :)
That's stunning! The wings are pointing away from you so i think you were right to focus on the body. As for luck well that's what happens when preparation meets opportunity! Well prepared! A fav!
this is stunning, and the focus is perfect, you should have got its number so you can give it a call for another photo shoot one day since it was so obliging
A great, big, fluttery, pretty-winged, much detailed and magnified "THANK YOU!" to all! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop by. I appreciate your support and encouragement every day. So happy I was able to shoot a butterfly and share this shot with everyone!
love it :)
I don't anticipate getting a butterfly shot in my project!! Great capture here :)
Again, thank you!
