This is a Ladybug or Ladybird larva. They eat aphids like their parents do.The preschool children I taught loved this poem:
Ladybugs all dressed in red
Strolling through the flowerbed.
If I were tiny just like you
I'd creep among the flowers too!
~Maria Fleming
Love this - we don't see many of the ladybug larvae where we are now but when we lived in Seattle, there were lots on my roses. They are wonderful for aphid control. Great capture and love the poem.
Wow! another teaching session. This is something i've never seen, actually never thought about ladybugs having larva. This has beautiful bright colors.
