@beckyk365 thanks Becky - I think I'll be going in September '18. Tickets is one thing...accomodation and spending money is another thing all together! (And not part of the prize)
@narayani there are places you can stay for free - with people who want to stay with other different people elsewhere free in turn - the web will provide the answer!
@narayani I haven't used it, but I picked up a girl hitch-hiking and she told me about it. I'll see if I can find out the site she uses. And there is a couchsurfing.com!
yes, it is couchsurfing.com - it certainly works for her - she's travelled in over 100 countries! though I'm not certain when she's ever at home to offer reciprocal hospitality
there are lots of mixed reviews - and some of them offer suggestions to other similar sites eg guesttoguest.com or homestay - now seems fraught with pitfalls :-(
@anniesue 😩There is so much choice it is quite overwhelming. We're thinking to see if we can find a little villa somewhere in Umbria/Tuscany and be based there and do do day/overnight trips around the area...
@narayani I remember Everything! Apart from making use of any Italian speakers locally, you could have an Italian radio station on all the time on the internet to fall into the rhythm and comprehension of the language subliminally ... and Babel, is it?
