Harvest

Didn’t do too well with the broad beans this year - this was the entire crop!
well darn! is it over already? they look really nice though.

Sometimes I find it is cheaper to just buy vegetables in the store than all the water and effort that goes into growing them, but yet there is nothing nicer than the handful of home grown, organic, sun ripened veg!

@seacreature yes it’s not economical! Especially with our dry climates, but some things are lovely to have. Salad greens and silverbeet (chard) are great and home grown tomatoes are 100% on store bought.

@anniesue no, they die off after fruiting. I planted a heap this year but only one plant grew. I think the seeds were a bit old.

My lovely neighbour dropped off some home grown broad beans couple of days ago. I've become a convert :)

@merrelyn you didn’t like them before?! They’ve become a favourite of mine since growing them (the frozen supermarket version is good too!)

@narayani I think I must have only tried old beans which were bitter and awful. I’m Now tempted to try growing some, but the frozen version would be a less bother 😂
