Hmmm by narayani

Hmmm

Well that was disappointing. Even though Jane and I used many of the same leaves, her results were so much more colourful and much crisper. I’ve converted this to b&w but the original wasn’t that much different 🙁
I have no idea how you achieved this, but I like it!

is this relief printing? It is odd that your results were so different.

@ludwigsdiana @anniesue we place the leaves on prepared paper , wrap tightly and boil in a “dirty pot” for 3 hours.
Part of the paper prep is soaking in a soya milk solution. This time Jane used a better brand which we think made all the difference.
A dirty pot is one which has had rusty iron added to it.

It's interesting that your results were so different.What effect does pre-soaking in soya milk have on this process?

@narayani Thanks for the info, it sounds like something I would love to try ;-)

I think this looks pretty cool, but I know it’s a bummer when it doesn’t turn out as expected. It would be nice to see it in color sometime!

@merrelyn I’m terrible on the science but somehow soya milk prepares the paper so it will react better with the leaves. (Protein?)

@kwind if you’d seen how it can look…. 😂
@beckyk365 it’s not much different in colour Becky 🙁 I got a nice yellow from one of the plants and a bit of red from another.
