No matter where you go near water there are fish. A natural resource that man has ruthlessly exploited. Many aspects of the fishing business in the UK and other industrial nations have been ruined because of over-fishing.
Plymouth, UK, is a harbour of great historical importance. Formally an important base for a great navy. Once a great fishing port too. Today it has a few sad fishing boats. So few that I have almost pictured them all in this one picture. The harbour is now filled with yachts and small sailing vessels which provide status, rather than business, for the owners. However, the income sustains a local economy that is now based on tourism instead of fishing and ship building. How the fortunes of great places change...

Great colours and reflections. It's such a shame that so many of our small fishing ports are now empy of fishing boats - and our seas so empty of fish. It seems obvious that if you send out a massive factory boat to scoop up all of the fish that there won't be any next time you go out.
Hopefully we'll learn that we are part of the chain and not above it, before it's too late. Beautiful colors on these fishing boats, giving nice contrast.
We are having a battle here in Australia to save our fishing grounds too - everyone gets upset by the rules.
