Duxford Imperial War Museum has 5 display buildings. Right at the entrance to the site is a large hanger in the traditional style. Recently built, it houses a large number of British and European aircraft including Concord shown earlier this week ( http://365project.org/netkonnexion/anotherone/2011-07-16).
In todays shot I have captured the full wingspan of the Lancaster Bomber of Dambuster fame. The wide-angle distortion from the fisheye lens allows the full panorama of this huge hanger to be taken in while at the same time emphasising the magnificent Lancaster in the foreground.
I deliberately took my fisheye lens to Duxford because it is really well suited to roundish subjects and superwide objects. In this photo I have tried to capture both. This fisheye lens allows a 180 degree view, but distorts the view in the process. However, the curvature it imparts is both attractive and a powerful way to emphasis a subject. I hope you enjoy this shot as much as I enjoyed taking it.

Thank you Mr. Net for both the tour (represented by your many images)and commentary. Truely the perfect venue for your fisheye. Very much enjoyed, indeed.
I think you knew exactly what you were doing when taking this lens. This makes for a great shot of the hangar, and especially the front plane that you are emphasizing.
Another great aviation shot and special for me as my father worked on these in the Sudan desert.I also have a prized watercolour of one, just before a dawn take-off, called 'Last Quiet Moments'.
wow i love the angle and the fish eye lens effect! i was tossing up whether or not to get one with my new camera, but went without. i think i will save up for one!
Such an awesome shot! I want one of these! LOL Get this: I actually visited Duxford's War Museums, including this one! Also the Churchill's War Rooms, and others. LONG time ago.... Be well, Les
Post Script: Are you going to any of the Air Shows this summer?? If so, have an awesome time, AND, take boodles of photos and post like a madman! LOL Be well, Les
