Morval is a tiny hamlet not far from Looe in Cornwall. Yet every year they run a vintage steam rally. I go most years. They have all sorts of vintage traction engines, tools, vintage cars, pumps, saws and agricultural equipment as well as army vehicles, vintage motorcycles and some excellent models. There are amusements and stalls, food caravans, a concert tent, and a huge area for displaying the vehicles and other shows.
In this picture you see a fully working replica model of an old vintage steam engine. I am told that some of these replicas are anything up to 100 years old and they cost more than a modern car to buy! But they are fun. And, lots of the owners tell me that steam driven vehicles really gets into your blood. They certainly seemed fanatical.

I just love steam rallies.....that smell.....the whir of the engines and quite often a steam powered musical organ somewhere in the background. Must be an English thing that I don't find this shot unusual in any way...it's great!
great shot, I'm another steam rally lover, and it's different, people who are into it, that's their passion - there's another huge one at a tiny place in Dorset - Stourpaine Bushes, that's massive when you see it
Steam fairs are great fun (and the Aveling & Porter road rollers occcasion a trip down memory lane for me). These miniature engines are beautiful works of engineering and craftsmanship.
Looks like a fun day. We have a 'Yesteryear Village' @ the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, Fl. that has a bunch of old, working engines and tools. There several restored antique building on the property as well, and the workers dress in period clothing. This pic reminds me of of it. (fond memories )
I love this pic with the tiny steam vehicle and BIG boys...this may be a stupid question, but don't they have to have fuel for that engine like wood or coal? Where do they keep it on that little thing? :0)
