Some strange people have never heard of Marmite or only know the rather wishy-washy antipodean version (grin). So, for those outside the UK who would like to know more here are some links...

@msk1p2 - It is an extract of yeast. It makes a very black thick paste. It is smooth and strong tasting and smelling. It has a sort of deep nearly meaty flavour, but is sort of bitter/sweet. You spread it on bread and butter very thinly. Its pretty strong, pretty interesting and good for you - rich in B vitamins.
Looks like an Any Warhol .Never have taste it. Is it sweet ? I only know it from my visits to Gr. Britain
Thank you for seeing my pic and the lovely comments.
@netkonnexion Thanks for the reply, and the link Damon; I think I'll take a pass on that stuff! LOL That goes for the vegemite too - if it's coming out of a jar and I'm going to spread it, I'd rather have good 'ol peanut butter! hahha. Take good care, Les
are you kidding me? i love marmite. i lived in the sultanate of oman for a few years before coming here and everying there is british. my british roommate always had marmite in our cupboard and made me eat cheese melt sandwich with marmite in it. i even brought a few jars with me when i came here. then i found out it's available here. cool shot, damon.
Being American, I'd not heard of it for most of my life. THen we read about a character eating it in a book called "Battle for the Castle" (kids book) She was English... the character eating it. I bought some and we TRIED to try it. Uh....I touched one finger to the paste and put to my tongue...no way was I eating it. The kids were the same way. and I am pretty darn adventurous and try lots of foods. Now, I'd not be able to eat it because yeast is a no no on my diet anyway.
I've never tried either one :(
Thank you for seeing my pic and the lovely comments.
I love the focus and dof in this shot, and the colours!
