Because sometimes black and white just does NOT do justice to the subject :)
I have seen this gentleman on a number of occasions, but this was the first time he was actually standing still and facing me. I do not know what his story is, but shortly after this photo was taken he started to get into it with the guy handing out free info about Jesus.
I wish the scene wasn't quite so busy, but hey, it's the corner of Yonge and Dundas and it was a-swarming with people this afternoon.
I think this works better *because* it the background is so busy. It doesn't detract from your main subject, but adds more realisim to the whole scene. I'd love to know this guys story to. I bet it's a doozey!
@binny tx Binny! i tried to get photos of the argument, but the angle was off, lighting awkward and too many people milling about to really make any sense of the shots...
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW!!!!!!! What socks!!!
Terrific capture, wonder what on earth he does??? Agree sometimes colour is just IT! Love the balloon guy too! Great street shot!
wow, that's amazing, great colours and scene (and this is one of those few occasions I get into selective colour - to pick out the bits I want to show up more)
Haven't seen one quite like this before. If you look closely you will discover all sorts of crazy things...what does he have tucked in his sock? The guy with the ballons compliments the wild guy on the bike. Nicely done.
He's sort of on his own colour scale, too. We usually call such people 'town originals' here. Do you? And I'm glad you kept the colours!
The street name caught my attention; 'Dundas'. In Norwegian this is an out of fashion word for... well, 'heck', if you catch my drift...? ;-p
Isn't that funny! Had to look at this for quite some tiime to take it all in! Love the trail of baloons and his socks are a real fashion statement with his mismatched shoes!!
@bankmann i don't think i've ever heard the term "town original"... and i don't think we have a label for them at all... as for the name "dundas" - that's too funny! there are all sorts of places named "dundas" in ontario... i think mostly named after Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville... apparently, he was a Scottish lawyer and politician who never visited North America http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dundas,_Ontario
What on earth is he wearing this lot for. I'm intrigued by what appear to be tennis balls stuffed down his socks. Maybe he's a one man band. This is such a great capture xx
