Throng

I remain uncommitted at this point, but I am thinking that this may end up being my entry for the Street Photography Now challenge:

"Get lost in a thicket of signs and structures"
http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/12870/street-photography-now-challenge-week-5

I'm actually thinking it works better in colour because it's hard to tell in b&w that the whole left hand side is just a mess of signs. But then, two of my last 10 photos have been in colour, and I think that's enough, don't you? ;p

Here is a link to the colour version on flickr:

@paulaag - because you were commenting on the "crowd" from my monday photo... that was early morning before the stores opened and is nothing compared to the above which is more the norm :)

Awesome shot.

I tried to look at the flicker ones, but they wouldn't load...only could see the thumb nails. I think I might feel claustrophobic if I was in this shot. So many people! I guess that is Toronto for you!

Awesome find! I think this would make a great entry. I checked out the color version, too. While it does highlight the signs on the left, I think I prefer the b&w version.

@newbie i don't find these crowds particularly claustrophobic... but they are frustrating if you're in a hurry... and today i nearly got stepped on while trying to take a shot from a lower pov ;p

Nice black and white too many people for my tastes. :)

I really like the softness and clarity of your b&w shots. I think that means you have done really well with the light. Aspirational, for me.

Nice title too.

@carolinedreams tx Caroline! altho', i have to say, it's mostly the luck of the draw... :)
June 7th, 2012
great street shot! I like the movement of the people in the front.

I wondered if that was what this was for when I saw it on Flickr - great street shot that I reckon fits the theme.

you do realise that if it had been you rushing past and nearly stepped on someone on the pavement you wouldn't have been sympathetic?

Nice street shot, think the signs do get lost in the B and w ...they are much more obvious and add to the image in the colour one!!
June 7th, 2012
Busy busy, certainly a lot of people about. Cool street scene.

Great shot if you're thinking of using it for the challenge, the signs are plentiful and the people rushing around really add something to the 'lost' in a thicket of signs challenge.

@shanne Tx Shannw... And absolutely about your last comment... I do my best to find spots where I am out if the way - both for my own safety and to avoid annoying everyone else :). There's usually some structure I can kind of merge w to be out of the way - added bonus is that I blend in and am less noticeable ;p

Like all the heads and characters
June 7th, 2012
I see what you mean about the signs getting lost, but I still prefer it in b&w. :)

Wonderful street scene!!.....Love it! : )

This is fab. I love all the people's heads dashing about their business xx
June 7th, 2012
That is a lot of shoppers! Great photo! I love the curves of that building

@northy .....what a sight with all of these people! I'd have to travel to Indianapolis, downtown to get a scene like this. Thanks for pointing this out to me.....very thoughtful of you:)
I really like B&W, but if you are going to use this for the theme, the signs do show up so much better in color. You are going to have a tough decision!!

Wow that is a lot of people. You have good shots for the theme, good luck with picking :p

very beautiful street shot; it perfectly shows the action of a city, with lots of different people moving around

I can't make up my mind if I prefer this shot in colour or B&W - they're both great. I really love all the people, you've caught the hustle and bustle so well.
