This was actually taken yesterday. Today was a crappy day for photography - work is just too crazy and I haven't had time to really think about what I am shooting. Plus I've been spending waaaaaay too much time thinking about the Street Photography Now challenge rather than actual composition. There are only about a gazillion signs and structures near the office but I find that on their own, they do not an interesting subject make, and I am still struggling on how to incorporate people into the backdrop in a way that works. It's really great practice, but the results have been hit and miss and like I said, I am really lacking in time to think about what I am doing right now. I think my brain needs a break!
Speaking of which, after tonight I will be away until Sunday, taking the kids to visit my mom. Probably won't be able to post photos again until Sunday night. Have a great weekend wherever you are!
Much as I much prefer my Throng shot as an image, the signs don’t show up in b&w and the shot does not work well in colour... this one, i think, has earned the colour because of the line, and that gets you the signs... and... yeah... there...
I'd definetly get lost in that place! There is wayy to much going on. I'd feel so overwhelmed. Good choice.
Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you when you get back!
That's a really good street shot! I love the 3 lines all leading the eye to the same place. I don't think too much at first when I do street shots - I find it best to have a rough idea of the frame then when anything promising moves into it I keep shooting! When a natural break arises then I think, linger a while longer... and the shot often turns up!
Perfect for the theme. I'm not sure how much street photography can be set up or thought about. I am loving the SPN challenges and I love seeing what you come up with, have a great weekend :)
Glad you went with colour, for one. Glad that you chose to post it, too. In spite of the place obviously being a challenge, you've managed to compose your shot well. The red line is a great lead, sending your viewer straight into the sign board covered structure. Ugly building, nice shot. ;-)
Enjoy your weekend!
@bankmann Tx Bankmann! I've actually been dying to get a decent photo of that wall of billboards and signs for ages!!! I'm glad I finally had an excuse to work on how to make it work :)
Nicely done there Northy, strictly speaking not red though is it? I love the repetitive shadows on it, as do the whole thing! Have a nice break and bring back some nice shots!
@frida Hmmm... You're right - it does look more "blood orange" then red... Interesting... Red to my eye because i know that's the colour of the glass thingies on the left which are causing the reflection... :)
I know I have already said I love it, but I am saying it again because everytime I have thought about the challenge, your image is the first thing I see..... it is great :)
Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you when you get back!
Enjoy your weekend!
