The desaturated colours looked better to me than b&w for this.

Ok so I love the composition of this, A big fan of desaturation (personally don't understand why so much of street photography is done in b&w) and I like that you captured a hand gesture very well, to add to the 'communicating' aspect of the photo.
I agree, it would be a shame to lose all the colour from this. Good editing.
