This was taken at lunch time, but sadly, I do not believe this gentleman was simply enjoying a pleasant noon-time nap... he seemed of the sort who did not have much place else to go...
I seem hugely undecided about my shots for today... here is a link to flickr for an alternate approach to the crop (using a different shot)...
The contrasts between the two crops is really quite interesting.
I think it depends on what you want to say with your picture. If you want the man to be the undeniable focus, then I'd say the Flickr shot. However, I think this one, with him further away and the strong lines, convey the impression of him being social after-thought more strongly to me. Like he's boxed into a corner and easily ignored.
I'm probably talking rubbish so I'll stop now. :)
Prefer this one....because the greenery/foliage in the other one is more center stage and detracts from the hard angular nature of the stones and walls...... I think!!!!
@humphreyhippo tx HH... i think it's the "afterthought" approach that i was aiming for... i kind of like figuring out the balance between the architecture vs. human thing and wanting to make the architecture part of the image... this is actually a structure or sculpture... i can't find an easy photo of it online... the link below takes you to the page of the architect who designed it... it's the third one down on the right hand side... larry sefton memorial park... http://www.jeromemarksonarchitect.com/projects-commercial.htm
