His Royal Highness

Last smoke shot until I acquire some new and improved photoshop skills ;p

This was shot in black and white to see if i could solve the background problem... this didn't quite work because adding colour to the smoke seems to tinge the background as well... so once again, converted used nik silver efex to add colour through a toner...

I think it looks better large :)

For "get pushed" this week Mike Gifford challenged me to do some smoke photography which, he'd rightly pointed out, i'd never tried before...

For those who were wondering, here are the two links Mike gave me for help with smoke shots... these vids are extremely helpful and I pretty much followed these instructions...

tx for all the lovely comments and favs on my alien tango... really hoping to be back out for street sometime soon... unfortunately this week i got sucked into a vortex at work and was lucky to have time to grab lunch!
Cool

@michaelelliott the shooting set up is actually pretty easy... it was the post processing that i found tricky...

Cool...totally see the person!

I found LR can work really well for processing smoke shots. I still like doing some of it in Photoshop too though. This one looks great.

@terryvet92 oh yes... i did some tweaking in LR (clarity, blacks and exposure)... i guess i didn't really need to go into PSE, except (a) i was originally going for true colour, and (b) PSE is my pathway to nik silver efex :)

@northy I like nik silver efex a lot too and I'm really in love with the Nik Color Efex. :)

Very nice! I still need to add this to my 'try list'. I also need to try nik silver. So many things to try, so little time. :(

I love doing smoke photos - they're fun to take, and really fun to look at afterwards - I'm not sure what image I make out of it.... but I'll keep looking. I think you did a lovely job with this one.
