Got 'Smores?

Decided to make an attempt at food photography for the weekly theme... It was either this or a gummybear, and the kids ate all the gummybears ;p

Hm, coming from Scandinavia, I speak one of the languages the word 'smores' stems from ('smørbrød', lit. 'sandwich'), but honestly, I don't get 'smores' at all... What is it, really? Marshmallows and chocolate, that I get, but what's the rest? How do you make them? Are they all alike, or are there different kinds?
