i've been meaning to attempt a blurist cityscape all week, but it's been so freaking frigid that the thought of going down to the lake at night has been just a little much... went down this morning after sunrise and my fingers still hurt from being cold some 11 hours later...
anyhoo, not sure this works, but did want to attempt it to see...
@taffy - finally attempted a cityscape blur shot... i don't think this quite works... my thinking, though, is that you need to have a recognizable landmark that folks can relate to, even if it's blurred...
I think this is recognizable! But I was also shooting it today in that bitter cold this morning, so it might be 'freezer' burned on my brain?
Interesting effect, and one I will have to try!
I think it works. Reminds me of my college days - waking up in the car on a Sunday morning with a massive hangover then looking out the window wondering 'Where am I?'
@northy Makes sense -- and I think recognizable is the key. In one of the ones I did (City Burst), Washington Blvd is there as is the Citibank building, but neither is iconic enough to be recognizable. The tower here is -- thought it could be Seattle, I guess. Blurism was a lot harder than I had anticipated!
I think you are the only one I know on here who would know exactly how to blur a cityscape and make it look like it was supposed to be that way AND do it artistically! Great shot!
I like it. I saw the challenging, but I am still mulling it over, trying to come up with an idea.... I hear ya about the cold. It was 2, just 2, this morning.
I think the hardest part about blurism, trying to find that medium between too much blur and not enough blur. Great job. I like the B/W also. The CN Tower is recognizable enough for people to relate to.
I like the way you have done this, like I kind of want to rub my eyes and yawn, as i feel I've yet to fully focus. It's kinda surreal. Nicely abstract. Either that or I've woken up drunk xx
Interesting effect, and one I will have to try!
Makes me wish we had a skyline like that to play with.
