Grantham Canal by oldjosh

Grantham Canal

Is a disused waterway that leaves the River Trent between Trent and Ladybay bridges, nearly opposite the exit from the Beeston canal. The entrance lock is sill connected to the Trent; beyond that a wall and bank has been built. This view is of the first section of the canal looking back towards the Trent; it ends just out of sight round the bend; behind me busy roads have been built across it. It is a tranquil spot, a wildlife haven despite its urban environment and it was along here I photographed the Kingfisher see http://365project.org/oldjosh/365/2016-03-10
Even though it's disused and a bit neglected it makes a great photo and I'm sure it is a haven for wildlife.
