Today I went to Skylarks Nature Reserve near Holme Pierrepont on the outskirts of Nottingham. It was a cold sunny day and is the first time I have walked round the whole of the reserve. It is was a gravel quarry and is carefully managed so that the holes left by the extraction are a valuable wetland habitat.
