Looking down stream, from the entrance to the Erewash Canal. On the left the Cranfleet Canal leaves the Trent to rejoin it lower down. In the distance the Trent bears left under the railway bridge and as it turns is joined by the river Soar coming in from the right beneath the row of trees. On the right beyond the bank of the Trent the small pond has become a lake. A little further up stream the River Derwent and the Trent and Mersey Canal join the Trent. The Ratcliff on Soar power station completes the scene.
