The Roundhouse Barrrow Upon Soar

The blue plaque informs us that:-
The Roundhouse was built in 1827 by Suttons, a local firm of builders. It was originally built as a 'lock up' for the temporary restraint of criminals, drunks & other nuisances & was recorded as the parish prison in the 1851 census. It later used housed the village fire engine, then the village bier for carrying a coffin. In more recent times it has been used as an exhibition room.

The fire engine would have been a small hand drawn one.
Very nice shot
