30 Independence Artist: Hannah Money
This design marks the partition of India and Pakistan by respecting the different traditional crafts of both countries, divided, as part of the design, by a shared association with the mandala and elephants.
4 The City Ground Robin Artist – Sophia Edwards. Painted by Claire Thompson and Anna Roberts at Nottingham Playhouse.
This desigh was created by 14-year-old Sophia Edwards. Sophia’s entry was a clear competition winner for Forest as it perfectly captured and combined two iconic things about the city of Nottingham – Nottingham Forest Football Club and Robin Hood, The combination of Forest kit and a sparky green ‘Robin Hood’ tights were seen as the perfect combination. Everyone at the club was also a huge fan of the cheeky wink in Sophia’s design something Brian Clough would have enjoyed.
21 Green Man of Sherwood Forest Artist: Lois Cordelia
Have you seen faces in the leaves of Sherwood Forest? Many Folklorists claim that the legend of Robin Hood is derived from the ancient image of the Green Man, or related figures such as Jack in the Green or Robin Goodfellow (puck). No surprise that Robin Hood is clothed in Lincoln Green. The mischievous outlaw could be hiding in any disguise!
@susiemc There are 33 of them, I have seen and photographed all but one of them, I know where it is but it is not on any of my usual routes. Perhaps I will try to make a collage of them all.
