Wood Bastow was a textile factory in Selston Nottinghamshire which closed in 1992, The factory was the main employer for women in the area. The factory stoop beyond the wall where new housing has been built.
The design was created by the pupils of Selston C of E Infant and Junior school which is opposite the sculpture,
