Warm Springs were discovered in 1698 on the border of the village of Matlock, a bath house was built. The building of the bridge in Matlock improved access to the springs, and more visitors arrived. In 1823 Princess Victoria of Kent visited and Matlock became a society venue visited by many famous people.
It is now a major Tourist attraction with its cable car across the valley to the Heights of Abraham and the caves, the Peak District Mining museum and more.
Every Autumn The “Venetian Nights” are held with illuminate boats on the river Derwent and illuminations along its banks. The sign show the Derwent with High Tor in the trees.
