This is my attempt at something even close to @robinwarner Robin's incredibly talented work! I have so much respect for her after trying some candid street portraits. I am still so inspired by her work! You rock, Robin!
Funny, I saw this guy look right at me through my view finder so I tried to play it off like I was shooting the building behind him...it was the most plain and boring building in the area! I don't think I fooled him!
you got a fantastic shot under the circumstances, i probably would have taken my camera from my eye and waited for him to move to make him believe the building behind him story, lol!! I'm totally gutless with these kind of shots, and yes i agree Robin is the master!! I really love your processing and his hat!
I think what @trude says is a good idea but I would have clicked anyway and then made an impatient sign and moved to one side as if "he got in the way" Would want to have been punched, though! PS following Robin Warner now!
This is awesome, Jerry! Congrats to you for being so brave - and without a big lens! It reminds me very much of Robin's work. I miss her so much on this site, but I'm happy to see you picking up the mantle. You are so much braver than me. Oh, and another instant fave, my friend!
Ooh, makes my stomach lurch, I know that feeling! You feel so guilty and intrusive! I went on a street photography workshop in soho and one of our tasks was to use a wide angle lens and walk through a busy area with the camera permanently to our eye, walking all the while. Just click and move on,... I got some surprisingly good shots this way and by the time you are sussed you've gone! Great shot Jerry, well done.
@trude Thanks, Trude! I thought I was being so sly too! Lol! I can't imagine too many more of these types of shots! :) @hjbenson Lol! Thanks, Harry! @maggiemae I think I did snap a couple of shots acting like I was trying to get around him! Robin is really the master at these! You'll love following her! @pocketmouse So true! You can almost read his mind just by looking at him! :) @lauriehiggins Thanks, Laurie! I wouldn't call in brave, more like temporary insanity! :o) @sandier He was sitting with another guy and immediately started talking to him about it! I didn't stick around too long! :) @kidatheart Ya, me either! This might be my last! I much rather sneak up on a daisy! @salza Thank you so much, Sally! @harley84 I can't wait to see yours! :) @jackie8 That sounds like such a great class! I've got to try that! Can't wait to see one of the shots you captured! @hopess13 Obviously I need a little more skill in the discreet department! ;o) @monika64 Thank you so much, Monika! :)
Lol. Great story! Fantastic street shot! I think he knew you were shooting him & probably didn't mind. Kinda gives that sort of feeling. I think I would have moved on pretty quick though...just sayin'. :)
I can see why you would have wanted to capture this individual. Cool. And what a great look to go with his characteristics. Nicely done. I'm with you though...still very chicken and try to play it off as shooting something else when trying street photography.
Boy, is that guy giving you the stink eye. No, more than the stink. He's giving you the "if you take my picture I'm going to cut up your body into pices and bury them all over the city" eye!
I bet there's a scary story behind that face. Probably best we don't know.
You did a fabulous job!! Yes, Robin rocks out these types of photos too!! Both your and her work rock!!! @robinwarner Have not seen Robin in a bit, hope she is will, and you too Jerry!
Robin was one of the first people I followed and I am in awe.
This is amazing, did you have a long lens?
Fav
@jackie8 That sounds like a great way to do street shots :)
@hjbenson Lol! Thanks, Harry!
