So I went out today to shoot my "push" challenge shot, which was street photography up close, and came back with a memory card full of junk so I posted an old faithful ocean shot instead! I really have respect for those of you that can pull off great street shots! I'm not giving up yet! I love a good challenge!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thank you for stopping by! :)
This is stunning! Good for you for giving street photography a try. I tried one night this summer and I too got a whole lot of yucky photos. Stick with it. I know you will get what you want with a little more practice.
@cvanheel Thanks, Cade! I'll take some for you! :o) @wordpixman Thank you very much, Arthur! @jenniferruge It's a lot of fun! I find that it takes a lot of time and patience to bag a good shot! I'll keep practicing! @pocketmouse Thank you, Teresa! I love that word! :)
This is simply stunning! Fav. We have an Art Festival happening in the village this weekend so I was hoping for some street shots but weather played havoc yesterday. Looking better today so fingers crossed :-)
I don't think I will be able to do a good street shot. I've always got this scene played in my head - someone in the pic is going to come and grab my camera and smash it on the ground. Eeep!
Besides, who needs street shots when you've got junk as awesome as this one? Fav :D
There is a lot of luck to street as you need the subject to find you, you need to almost stumble upon a interesting person or situation. I take my cam out every lunch time but maybe get 2 or 3 half decent shots a week. I've completely failed on my Push this week, and anyways you got this rather cool shot so not all bad
Surely not junk Jerry! I've seen some of your street photography, I particularly remember the one of the menacing guy in blue who was looking straight at you a couple of months back! But, yes, some days just don't work... that's when I revert to flowers for some solace! Great photo this, the leading lines, the b & w and focus are all awesome.
Lighten up on your self. Trying new things is always difficult. I don't believe it was total junk, but it will look different than these that you do so wonderfully.
This is gorgeous and better than any street shots I've ever seen! I have a hard time doing them too. Yesterday I had a perfect opportunity - and I blew it! There was a guy sitting on the sidewalk with a sign that read "My wife ran off with my best friend. Need money for a thank you card!" Anyway, your Dark Water shot is absolutely stunning and I love it. Fav.
Interesting texture & tones in this shot!
I'm glad to hear you are pushing on with your challenge...I have a hunch you'll get it...are you maybe being too hard on yourself trying something new?
Gorgeous B&W Jerry, I can't do street shots at all, am way to scared that someone will attack me & steal my camera, the best places for street shots here are the most unsafe....bit like the graffitti areas!!
Jerry, it sounds like this week's SPN Challenge is right up your alley. You need to be out of your comfort zone and morally challenged... Or just stick to beautiful images like this one.
On the street shot assignment, just find a cool spot with nice view of the people traffic and chill for a while (have a drink) and let the street shot come to you.
Sorry Northy! I just couldn't post the crap I took today! You have really inspired me! At least I posted one for the challenge! ;)
@wordpixman Thank you very much, Arthur!

I can't do this, my camera isn't up to it, street shots are different and you need different techniques

street photography isn't always easy... and the ability to stumble on something cool can kinda depend on the places you have easy access to...
That made this picture x200 amazing. :D
oh, and i highly doubt your street shots suck...you, take a bad photo? Pffffft :P
