Monday's are supposed to be about things that work, and my Dad worked hard and the PicMonkey collage tool is working for me, and I am on my first monday, not working on summer vacation, which actually doesn't work all that well and I need an income soon. Sigh.
Anyway, this is my Dad, from his curly haired toddler days in Pittsburgh through meeting Mom in Wyoming, through packing me on his shoulder and reading to my sons about a year and a half before he succumbed to esophageal cancer.
He never smoked after their wedding day, but he had acid reflux horribly most of his adult life. He really loved being a grandpa and it bothers me that he never got to see them growing up, but often, when I wanted to be lazy and tell then "Not Now" I would find myself remembering that my Dad would have loved the chance, so I took them fishing and to the beach and played catch and wrestled way more than I might have normally.
The last time I uploaded this it didn't load all the way on this page, so I deleted it and re did it, but saved the only comment so far

i love this collage, the collection of photos, your memories. very touching tribute to your father and creative entry for the challenge. he sounds like such a caring person; you obviously learned much from him.

Beautiful collage and tribute, Dixie! Love each photo, but I especially am drawn to the one where he's reading with your sons. Enjoy some time off ... even if it's just a short while. You deserve it too.
Great collage full of memories!!!! My husbands dad died of the same thing but he did smoke cigars. Love how you spent more time with your boys while thinking of your dad!
