We had GORGEOUS blue skies and big white puffy clouds today, but by the time I got out and found my way up onto a hill top, most had dissipated. Sigh.
BUT, Vee managed to post an AWESOME shot of the gorgeousness. :-)
I'm glad SOMEBODY did. LOL
Thank goodness, because she captured it much better than I ever could, even if I had her vantage point.
My view is that which is way in the background of her shot.
So, this is the downtown Los Angeles skyline, looking pretty much south from a section of Elysian Park called Angel's Point. I didn't stay too long because there were several gang types hanging out closeby. In fact, I had to walk past them to get the shot, but they didn't bother me and I sure as heck didn't bother them. ;-)
The tall building on the left side is the U.S. Bank Tower, tallest building west of the Mississippi. I tried to stay clear of that area in the months after 9-11. Truthfully, I STILL don't like being there.
Hey, don't waste time here! Go check out Vee's posting for today. It rocks. :-)
It is great to be able to see what others have as there day to day views. That is some skyline and some rather large buildings. Where I live the tallest building is only four stories! But then we do have the wonderful mountains surrounding the valley!
Love this skyline shot. I've yet to venture to that section of town to get that money shot! ....Thanks so much for your kind mentions:). Sometimes being in the right place at the right time is all it takes. As with a lot of my landscape shots, I like to say that I just point and shoot and thank Mother Nature!
This is also a fabulous shot with much more detail than Vee's. when I think of LA I always think of concrete and smog so it is very nice to see trees and clouds! Great composition, rose!
Wow this is a stunninng skyline Rose!! I love the sky and the clouds are perfect!!!! Great POV!!! And the colors....wow...I could go on...and on... love this one!!
@salza
That's one of the things I love about this site too...being able have a view around the world, into other people's lives and surroundings.
And I wouldn't mind it if the tallest building I saw was 4 stories. The only reason I go downtown is because I work there. Even most the suburbs here are pretty 'built up'. I've only seen Small Town USA when traveling, and it seems a charming way to live.
@gigiz
Thank you. :-)
Other majority, that's funny. And I like seeing how the minority lives. LOL
I love seeing scenes of wide open spaces, with sheep and cows. Don't see much of that around here.
I guess variety is the spice.

Thank you so much. I didn't think much of this shot, but after reading the comments, I guess it is pretty decent, eh?
Although, I think you really do need to lean to the left (ever so slightly). LOL
Didn't notice that it needed straightening until after it was posted and I didn't feel like doing it over.
@vskolnik
Yeah, Mother Nature does the heavy lifting and we carry the empty boxes. LOL
And it's probably safer for you to stay on your side of town. The gang bangers didn't really concern me too much, but I was very aware of them and took my shots quickly because of that.
@grammyn
Thank you.
Much of L.A. is as you say...concrete and smog. But we do have SOME clear days. It can be stunning after rain or wind, when the air gets scrubbed clean. ;-)
And downtown itself, is better viewed from afar in my opinion.

Thank you lady! :-) You're making me blush.
