I was zipping around town doing some quick errands before heading to a friend's house when I happened upon men in uniform. MEN IN UNIFORM!
I circled the area, looking for a place to park, then dashed over to the barricades blocking the street in front of City Hall. They were guarded by yet two more MEN IN UNIFORM. Oh, did I mention that there were MEN IN UNIFORM? ;-)
I asked the nearest (surprisingly short) MAN IN UNIFORM if it was alright to take some photos. He said that was fine, just don't cross the barricade line. I asked what the occasion was and he paused for a split second and I swear I saw the gears in his brain whirling as he searched for terminology that this nosy civilian woman would understand.
"We're getting a new boss."
I took numerous shots from that viewpoint and then circled City Hall to take some from the other side. As I was shooting from a distance over there, a man in civilian clothes assured me it was alright to move closer, but not to step into the street. I still had to stay at a good distance, but it was an improvement over where I was before.
He informed me that this was the Pasadena United States Marine Corp (USMC) Reserves and that a new commander was being appointed. I think he said the rank was Colonel, but I'm not positive. I guess my ears were blinded by the MEN IN UNIFORM. LOL
Great story always love to see Men IN UNIFORM! Wonderful composition with the majestic building! I am sure the men were excited you took this since they were all dressed up and standing tall. Great capture!
