I’m from Belfast and I’m a complete beginner in the world of photography. I’ve always loved photography and capturing things that interest me, but never...
It would be more accurate to call this intentional camera movement (ICM) rather than panning. Panning involves following a moving subject and keeping some of it sharp while blurring the rest, whereas the aim of ICM is to blur colours and shapes to create an abstract image such as yours. I encourage you to try more of it.
@cdcook48 thank you, that’s good to know. As a newbie I get so confused with all the technical terminology. This is the type of photography that I enjoy so I will definitely be trying it out some more.
It worked well for you- and yes, this is "ICM" and ICM can be a very creative way to approach an image- although you can't always control what you get (which is half the fun!).
@pbing Feel free to ask questions any time- the folks on this site are so knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to things like that. I've learned so much here!
