The Miller Arcade was the first covered shopping centre in Preston Lancashire, it was built around 1890 by Nathaniel Miller
The arcade was restored to its former glory in 1970, although sadly today many shops stand empty.
Nice Image Peter; Its a shame how many shops lie empty nowadays. Strangely they seem seem to keep building more, and then try to charge more rent for them. They then wonder why they lie empty,
@taffy Thank you so much for your lovely comments Taffy, the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney has very similar internal features it is of the same era, I took photographs of it when visiting Sydney:)
What a beautiful shot and such a lovely arcade. What a pity lots of the shops are empty. I think they have to be in the right place. The arcades in Melbourne in the city do so well here but not so in other areas. One in Newcastle died a death when they tried to restore it unfortunately.
@onewing Thank you so much for your wonderful comments Babs, this Arcade is slap bang in the middle of the city, but in saying that there are a lot of empty shops in the other two modern shopping complexes, sign of the times me thinks:)
@flyrobin Thank you Robyn for your lovely comments, as can be I did not set my white balance for Tungsten lighting hence the orange glow, as my school report often said try's hard but could do better, lol:)
